Capturing the intensity and determination of athletes has always been a passion at Enlightened Images. Photographer Stephan Potopnyk offers athlete portrait sessions either in studio or on location as well as sporting event coverage.
An interest in the sport of figure skating was kindled after the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary which led Stephan to photograph his first figure skating event in 1991. Since then, his images have been used extensively throughout the sport as he continues to cover professional skating tours, international and national competitions as well as providing images to the sport’s leading publications. In 1996 Stephan was contracted as the official photographer for the World Figure Skating Championships in Edmonton, Alberta.
Having formed trusted relationships with the athletes which he has photographed so often, Stephan has also been privileged to photograph weddings and family events for some of the sport’s leaders including Josee Chouinard, Shae-Lynn Bourne, Jennifer Robinson and others.
Stephan is a specialist in figure skating photography and is available for sports photography in Barrie, Ontario as well as throughout Canada.
